We have some users that have been using our hand cutters over two years
and they are still going strong. Tool life is very dependent on the user
and a few things you want to avoid are:
- Don't twist the tool when cutting - this chips blades.
- Don't cut on a diagonal, but try to keep your cutting tool at 90°
to the piece being cut.
- Don't overpower the tool by trying to cut material of greater size
than was intended.
- Don't cut using just the tips of the blades if you don't have to.
A center cutter has the cutting blades exactly in the middle of the
cutting head which gives the best and strongest support, so if you can use
a center cutter that is the best option. However, if you need to cut close
to an object leaving a minimum piece sticking out, then a side cutter is
best.
All of the tools in this tool shop are selected for their ability to be
used in extreme service. They are all rated to cut spring wire so if you
select a tool for the size material you're cutting the tool will do the
job.
Most of these tools are kept in stock here and can be shipped the day
you enter your order. If for some reason we are short on any item we'll
advise you. Even items we must import can normally be shipped to you
within 10 days after you place your order.
